Graduation Procedures

Students planning to graduate from either a degree or certificate program will need to complete the graduation process through the Registrar's Office. This should be done at the beginning of the semester in which the student plans to graduate.

  • Please go to the Registrar's graduation website to begin the process:
  • Once there:
    1. File an Intent to Graduate on-line
    2. Print out and fill out the appropriate Graduation Application
      (either for degree or certificate)
  • Attach an unofficial copy of your GMU transcript to the graduation application
  • Forward the Graduation Application to your advisor and program coordinator for signature. You may fax the application to the Department at 703-993-1953 if you wish. (Please call the Department at 703-993-1929 to inform that you have done so.) The signed application is forwarded to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management of the College of Health and Human Services
  • Once the entire process is completed, your transcript will reflect your graduation and/or completion of the certificate.

Note to certificate students: A paper certificate is not automatically issued. If you require one, you may contact the Department once your transcript reflects completion to request that one be issued.
