Welcome Message from the DeanWelcome to the George Mason University College of Health and Human Services. The college’s mission is to prepare students to function as professionals in multidisciplinary environments and on interdisciplinary teams. Our graduates are recruited by health care organizations, private corporations, and NGOs to provide leadership, care, and services to individuals, families, and communities across the globe. They are successful, in large part, because of the outstanding faculty and high quality programs in the college that teach them how to interact with each other and to function smartly and effectively in increasingly complex environments.
On any given day, CHHS students and faculty can be seen throughout the region as they engage in clinical rotations, internships and fieldwork, and community volunteer assignments at some of the most complex and sophisticated organizations to be found anywhere in the world. Being near the epi-center of world health and human services, policy, and research has proven to be a powerful launch pad for our students to begin a career or to take professional advancement to new levels.
The research enterprise in CHHS is rapidly developing under several key thematic areas including studies in chronic illness and disability, health care and long term care financing, health policy, health behaviors, nutrition and obesity, rehabilitation science, and immigration and human trafficking. Several investigators in these areas are currently funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Please visit the Research pages on our website to learn more about the exciting programs of research and recent publications of our faculty and students.
Our students, faculty, and staff are the College of Health and Human Services. We invite and encourage your engagement in CHHS activities to increase our stakeholder base and to help us continue to grow and prosper.
