College of Health and Human Services
Faculty and staff in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) value diverse opinions, perspectives, and world views. We understand that creating an educational environment and learning community in which students are encouraged to explore and celebrate diversity provides a powerful educational platform on which to launch successful careers in national and international health and human services organizations.
The goal of our college diversity plan is threefold and includes: 1) recruitment, 2) retention, and 3) advancement of underrepresented groups of faculty, staff, and students.
1.1 CHHS Goal for Diversity – Recruitment
Performance Indicator
Demographic makeup (gender, race, ethnicity) of student, faculty, and staff groups
Tasks
- 1.1A - Partner with high schools in the Northern Virginia and DC region to introduce career opportunities in health and human services to underrepresented groups
- 1.1B - Include diversity references in position announcements for faculty and staff and in program publications for prospective students
- 1.1C - Emphasize during committee and work group orientation sessions the importance of creating diverse applicant pools for faculty, staff, and student admissions
