General Requirements

Criminal Background Check: Almost all health care agencies now require such checks for all employees and volunteers providing care in their facility. If you expect to return to nursing employment this will affect you! Further, such a check is required of all nursing students in our College. After we receive your Registration Form, the forms you will need to complete for this “check” will be mailed to you.

License: All RN/LPN students are required to provide a copy of an active, valid Virginia license, or a copy of an active, valid out-of-state license and a copy of an application for a Virginia license plus a copy of your check made payable to the State Board of Nursing.

Physical Examination: All students are required to have had a physical examination within the past year and a negative chest x-ray or tuberculin skin test within the past year. A record of immunizations is also required. Students should secure Hepatitis B Vaccine series at the earliest possible opportunity.
