Dr. Panagiota (Yiota) Kitsantas is an assistant professor of biostatistics and epidemiology in the Department of Health Administration and Policy. She received her doctorate in Statistics from Florida State University in 2003. She has taught numerous courses in statistics (business and social sciences) and epidemiology at Florida State University and East Carolina University. Her research interests pertain to the application of data mining techniques such as classification and regression trees, and methods of categorical data analysis and spatial statistics to investigate public health related issues in the fields of environmental health, maternal and infant health and substance abuse among adolescents. She has been collaborating with a large number of researchers from various areas and served as a biostatistics consultant on numerous projects. Dr. Kitsantas has published several manuscripts in both statistical and epidemiological related peer reviewed journals. She has also presented here research findings at national and international conferences.
