J. Goodlett McDaniel has been a registered nurse since 1980. He received his undergraduate degree from Atlantic Christian College (now Bartlett) in Wilson, NC, his MSN in Community Mental Health at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC in 1985, his EdD in Education at NC State University in Raleigh, NC in 1988, and, his MBA from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL in 2002. Dr. McDaniel has been a clinical specialist in adult mental health since 1995. Dr. McDaniel worked for many years in health care management before returning to teaching in 1999. Dr. McDaniel has been a program director, assistant administrator, corporate regional marketing director, interim CEO, and consultant.
Dr. McDaniel has provided training for a number of organizations including the FAA air traffic controllers, Barnett Bank (now Bank of America), Hardee's Inc., Virginia Gas, and the American Cancer Society. Dr. McDaniel is a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Information Technology and Healthcare. He was the Chair of the Mental Health Association in Northeast Florida from 1999-2000, and has served on a number of human services Boards. Before coming to George Mason, Dr. McDaniel helped create and direct one of the largest distance-learning RN-to-BSN programs in the country.
