Dr. Martin Perlin serves as Healthcare Executive in Residence in the Department of Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University where he conducts graduate seminars in the management of health service organizations and directs the internship practicum.

Dr. Perlin has more than twenty years of experience as a hospital administrator and management consultant. He has served as a principal with top management consulting firms providing professional advisory services to healthcare organizations throughout the United States. He has advised CEOs and board members representing a broad range of acute care and specialty hospitals, healthcare systems and managed care organizations, senior care facilities and new business ventures. Dr. Perlin has extensive experience with the facilitation of interdisciplinary groups in decision making and managing change from directing strategic planning and business development projects involving single functions, departments or groups to complex corporate enterprises in diverse cross-functional environments. He is an experienced facilitator of mergers, acquisitions and strategic alliances.

Prior to his management consulting career, Dr. Perlin had ten years of progressive hospital operations experience leading to the position of Chief Executive Officer for a community hospital in Atlanta. He has held senior executive positions in both regional hospitals and academic medical centers, and has been retained for extended interim executive assignments to help manage transitions, operational turnarounds, organizational crises and complex situations.

Dr. Perlin served on the graduate faculty of the Medical College of Virginia and South University, where he held the position of Department Chair. He has also been a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Virginia, Wright State University School of Medicine and the Rollins School of Public Health.

Dr. Perlin earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) from the George Washington University. He received a Bachelors of Science (BS) degree from Emory University. He is the author of a number of publications including his text Managing Institutional Planning, Public Law 93-641 and Hospitals, published by Aspen Systems Corporation.
