Martin Perlin

Dr. Martin Perlin is Associate Professor; Section Chief, Programs in Healthcare Administration; and Coordinator of the CAHME accredited program in Executive Management in the Department of Health Administration and Policy, College of Health and Human Services. He has more than twenty-five years of experience as a hospital executive, management consultant and academician. His personal and professional mission at Mason is to prepare high quality, relevant, accountable and ethical healthcare leadership for the next generation. The College of Health and Human Services recognized him as the recipient of the 2010 Master Teacher of the Year, and he received the 2010 Habit of Excellence award. In 2011, he was elected as a faculty representative on Mason's Board of Visitors, to serve on the Committee on Academic Programs, Diversity & University Community. 

Prior to his appointment at Mason, Dr. Perlin served in senior leadership positions in the healthcare industry. He has been a principal with top management consulting firms providing professional advisory services to healthcare organizations throughout the United States. He has advised CEOs and board members representing a broad range of acute care and specialty hospitals, healthcare systems and managed care organizations, senior care facilities and new business ventures. His consulting areas of expertise are strategic and business planning, operational assessments and managing change. 

Prior to his management consulting career, Dr. Perlin had ten years of progressive hospital operations experience leading to the position of Chief Executive Officer for a community hospital in Atlanta. He has held senior executive positions in both regional hospitals and academic medical centers, and has been retained for extended interim executive assignments to help manage transitions, operational turnarounds, organizational crises and complex situations.
