
Dr. Susan Berkow is a nutrition consultant located in the Washington, DC area. She develops and conducts educational workshops in nutrition for allied health care professionals. In addition, she maintains a private clinical practice focused on obesity and weight management, diabetes, eating disorders, and women's health.
Distinguishing Dr. Berkow is the landmark study that she directed while at the National Academy of Sciences, Diet and Health: Implications for Reducing Chronic Disease Risk, and the study, Nutrition in Medical Education, as well as other Academy publications that significantly affected public policy. She has held executive positions in science and health policy in the food industry and participated in the food labeling initiative of the U.S. government.
Susan is the Chair of the Nutrition Division of the Institute of Food Technologists and the recipient of the 2007 Outstanding Member Award. She also serves as Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors of the Washington Society for the Study of Eating Disorders and Obesity.
