National Honor Society

Description

Upsilon Phi Delta is a national academic honor society for students in health administration.  It is a member service of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration.  AUPHA sponsors UPD to enable academic programs in Health Administration/Healthcare Management to enrich their student’s academic experience. The GMU chapter is comprised of qualified student members from both graduate and undergraduate programs.

Purpose

The purpose of the UPD Honor Society is to further the professional competence and dedication of individual members in and for the profession of healthcare management. The purpose is achieved by:

1. Recognizing students who achieve distinction in healthcare administration and management studies in universities and colleges.
2. Motivating academic excellence in students studying healthcare administration and management.
3. Recognizing, by means of honorary memberships, to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the profession
4. Upholding and developing high professional standards and ethics for members in the profession.

Criteria for Membership in the GMU chapter of UPD

1. Completion of a minimum 15 undergraduate credit hours or 12 graduate credit hours in Health Administration (see attached list);
2. Undergraduate minimum GPA of 3.25. Graduate minimum GPA of 3.5 (qualified courses);
3. Current students and graduates within the past 3 years

Member Dues

Members receive a lifetime affiliation with UPD with a one-time membership fee of $40.  This covers the cost of the UPD recognition pin, certificate, and induction ceremony.
