Blue-Cross Blue-Shield Nurse Scholar
The George Mason University, College of Health and Human Services, School
of Nursing Master's Division announces nominations for the Blue-Cross Blue-Shield
Nurse Scholar! One award will be made. The award may consist of
up to full tuition, books, fees, and a $40,000 annual stipend. It is
expected that the award will be available to the student for a total of two
(2) years.
Eligibility
- Newly Admitted (Fall 2007) student, full-time status. (A
student may change status from part-time to full-time to meet eligibility
criteria.)
- GPA of 3.25 or better in the last 60 hours of the bachelor's program.
- Teaching experience is not required, but will be considered if applicable.
- Once awarded, the student will maintain academic good standing as
described by the School.
- There is an expectation that the award recipient
will teach in a School of Nursing in the Maryland - Northern Virginia - District
of Columbia area for a minimum of 3 years after graduation.
Selection Criteria
- The applicant's academic record will be considered.
- A competitive essay
describing the candidate's interest in and plans for teaching in a School
of Nursing (maximum of 1000 words) will be reviewed.
- Letters of reference
will be reviewed.
