Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Accelerated Pathway for LPN's
The accelerated L.P.N. pathway takes into consideration the needs of the working
licensed LPN. Nursing courses begin following completion of general education
and prerequisite requirements.
Transfer credits are accepted for many general
education courses that have been completed at other colleges and universities.
(Of 120 credits required for degree completion, 65 credits are in nursing and
55 credits are in general education).
In addition to applying to George Mason
University as a transfer student, L.P.N. students must also make a separate
application for Junior Standing to the School of Nursing. A 3.0 GPA in the
designated nursing prerequisites is required to be accepted into Junior Standing.
Admission Requirements
Admission requirements for the Accelerated Pathway for LPN students are as
follows:
Special Requirements
All nursing students must be certified yearly in Basic Life Support CPR Level-C.
Two of the three injections for Hepatitis B immunization must be completed
prior to enrolling in clinical/practicum/internship courses. The third injection
must be completed by SIX MONTHS of injection #2. (See College of Health and
Human Services Form for additional health requirements that must be completed
before starting clinicals in the junior year.)
Students interested in this
pathway MUST contact Susan Swett, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment
Management (please call 703-993-1901 to schedule an appointment) before application
