The graduate certificate program in nursing education combines foundation courses in education with courses in the principles and practices of nursing education. The program prepares students to function in nursing educational roles in both academic and nonacademic settings.

Certificate Requirements

Applicants to the graduate certificate program must hold a bachelor's degree in nursing. Application is made through the College of Health and Human Services.

Explanation of Credit Hours
Course titles are followed by numbers in parentheses (0:0:0), separated by colons. The numbers have the following significance:

    • First Number: credits for the course
    • Second Number: hours of lecture or seminar per week for the course
    • Third Number: hours of laboratory for the course

For independent study, readings, topics, or similar courses, individual instructors set hours.

Students must complete all required courses with a 3.0 GPA to be granted the certificate.

A completed Hepatitis B immunization series is required before enrollment in clinical/practicum/internship courses.
