The Office of Research and Program Evaluation (ORPE) coordinates and provides support for continuous evaluation, strengthening, and accreditation of academic programs in CHHS. In collaboration with the dean, academic unit chairs and directors, the associate dean for Academic Affairs, and related university offices, ORPE assists with evaluation data collection, helps faculty members with learning objective assessments, supports unit and program self studies, coordinates communications across units and university offices, conducts related training, and provides technical assistance to units on accreditation and program enhancements.
Academic programs in CHHS are accredited by national accrediting organizations:
The School of Nursing must also comply with the standards set forth by the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty (NONPF), as well as the Virginia State Board of Nursing (VSBN).
In addition, George Mason University is currently preparing a university self study report for its Reaffirmation of Accreditation by the Southern Association for Schools and Colleges (SACS) in spring 2011. The CHHS Office of Research and Program Evaluation will be coordinating the CHHS role by collecting documentation and communicating with the Office of Institutional Assessment and the provost to ensure a seamless, well-organized, and timely process for CHHS.
