Washington, DC
Welcome!
The 6th biennial Policy Practice Forum (PPF) will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009, in the Cannon House Office Building (Room 345) in Washington, D.C. Every two years, hundreds of social work students and faculty from the mid-Atlantic region gather on Capitol Hill to learn about policy practice from noted social work policy practitioners, explore the connection between policy and social work practice, and participate in meetings with Congressional offices on issues of importance to the social work profession. This is a critical time in our nation’s history, and our goal as social work educators is to help our students understand the real implications of issues such as health care reform, the federal budget process, veterans, affordable housing, and aging. We hope you will join us!
The Policy Practice Forum provides students the opportunity to visualize the meaning behind the saying, “policy affects practice, and practitioners affect policy.” – JMU student
