The Associate Dean for Student Affairs is a dynamic leadership position responsible for the administration, management and direction of the Office of Student Affairs and its comprehensive set of student services. The Associate Dean for Student Affairs will be responsible for restructuring the Office with a vision to enhance all aspects of student services, including recruitment, admissions, and retention, academic and career advising, student opportunities such as study abroad, and working with university services for financial aid and graduation activities. The Director of Marketing and Communications creates, implements and evaluates the marketing and communication strategy for the College, including its six academic units: Global and Community Health, Health Administration and Policy, Nursing, Nutrition and Food Studies, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Social Work. The College also has plans to build and expand public health. The incumbent will be a creative action-oriented marketing professional who will be responsible for building the College’s brand, which will include public health in the near future in addition to its current academic disciplines and research centers. The incumbent will advise the Dean, and work collaboratively with the College’s leadership and the University’s Office of Communications and Marketing while enhancing the College’s reputation and building relationships with various constituencies through traditional and other novel strategic initiatives. The incumbent shall be an excellent communicator and writer who is able to lead and work as a member of the team. The Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs is a resource to and advocate for faculty and staff and is responsible for administration and support of the Faculty Development Committee, developing and implementing programs to aid faculty recruitment and retention, supporting departmental plans to further individual instructional excellence, and leading initiatives that contribute to faculty mentoring and professional development. The Associate Dean will also oversee related matters for staff. Working with the Dean and College leadership, the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs serves as primary liaison to the Office of Compliance, Diversity and Ethics, and Human Resources for hiring initiatives to build a diverse and inclusive faculty. In addition, the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs is expected to have substantive expertise in an academic area offered by the College or in public health, and to teach two courses, annually. This is a half-time (12-month) administrative faculty position with full benefits, with the remainder of the time will be spent as a tenured faculty member in one of the academic units comprising the College. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs oversees the academic operations of the College, spanning all academic departments. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs provides leadership to support the development of new degrees and courses, and supports decentralized program review and evaluation. The Dean also provides oversight for external accreditation processes and manages academic program procedures and policies for the College. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs works effectively with the College’s leadership, especially Department Chairs and faculty, in all aspects of the academic enterprise and its interface with students, faculty and university personnel working to ensure the quality and accountability of academic programs.
The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will have research and teaching experience in a discipline in the College or one ordinarily found in a School or College of Public Health, and will teach a minimum of one course, annually. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs represents the College when the Dean is not available to do so.
The position is a full-time (12-month) administrative faculty position with full benefits. Successful candidates will qualify for tenure at the rank of full professor. Candidates with demonstrated excellence in academic leadership beyond 12 years may be considered for appointment as Senior Associate Dean. This position reports directly to the Dean of the College.

The chair will provide visionary leadership for the department’s academic, research and service mission, while managing fiscal resources.
