Cara Frankenfeld, PhD

Dr. Frankenfeld is an epidemiologist whose research includes relationships between diet, environmental exposures, and gut microbial phenotypes and composition. She also conducts research on nutritional and environmental risk factors for cancer, obesity, and cardiometabolic diseases. She has taught a variety of epidemiology courses across multiple platforms in-class and on-line. Prior to coming to Mason, she was a postdoctoral Cancer Prevention Fellow at the National Cancer Institute, and worked as a Consulting Epidemiologist on Environmental and Occupational Health issues at Exponent, Inc. She serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Nutrition and as an Associate Editor for the Annals of Epidemiology.
