Tammy George

Tammy George, MSW, LCSW is an adjunct professor in the School of Social Work. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from The University of Mary Washington in 1992. She holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. Professor George has worked in a variety of clinical capacities in residential, inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment settings. She worked for many years as a therapist for Prince William County Community Services, where she did individual and family counseling, facilitated support groups and did crisis intervention work. For the last five years she has managed her own counseling practice with specialization in treating chronic anxiety and mood disorders. Professor George was voted 2013's Best Counselor in Warrenton in Warrenton's Lifestyle Magazine. She is very excited to be teaching the next generation of social workers at George Mason University.
