JoAnn Lee, PhD
Department of Social Work
JoAnn Lee, Assistant Professor, conducts research to understand how young adults come to be disconnected from social institutions, such as the family, school, and employment. Her work focuses on understanding the role of social institutions during adolescence and the transition to adulthood with a focus on vulnerable populations such as youth aging out of the child welfare system. Prior to coming to GMU, Dr. Lee was a postdoctoral fellow at Seattle Children's Research Institute where she examined relationships between social contexts and youth deviant behaviors. Her clinical work experiences include addressing substance use issues among juvenile justice and Asian American youth populations.
