CHHS Students Volunteer for She Rocks the World Virginia Girls Summit
CHHS students and faculty member Shannyn R. Snyder volunteered for the third annual She Rocks the World Virginia Girls Summit on October 7, 2017. This summit
inspires teenage girls to fearlessly use their own voice to live bigger lives.
She Rocks the World organizers remarked throughout the day on how the CHHS volunteers were so reliable, showed up on time, and were flexible, engaging, enthusiastic, professional. They really stood out as outstanding representatives of the Mason Nation.
GCH Students Clean Up Occoquan River
Global and Community Health students volunteered during the annual Occoquan River Clean Up.
Thirteen students from Shannyn Snyder’s Health and Environment and Health and Literature courses joined the Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District and Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition to clean up several sites along the Occoquan River. They cleaned up glass and litter and also found some unusual items, including coolers, clothing, and a plastic chair.
Nutrition Students Volunteer During Healthy Living in Loudoun Day
Students in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies volunteered during the Healthy Living in Loudoun Day event on April 30.
The event, hosted by Whole Foods Market in Ashburn, included nutrition seminars, cooking demonstrations, fitness activities, and health screenings.
The students, who are in Sina Gallo’s micronutrients class, presented a series of workshops on micronutrient requirements across different stages of the lifecycle, from pregnancy and preschool/school-aged children to adolescents, adults, and seniors.
