George Mason University is currently accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).  This accreditation covers all graduate and undergraduate programs offered by the University, including the MPH program.  The Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) acted at its June 6-8, 2013 meeting to accredit the Master of Public Health Program at George Mason University for a five-year term, extending to July 1, 2018.

A Final Accreditation Report and Final Self Study is available for review. 

Notice of Third Party Comments Regarding CEPH Accreditation Review

January 16, 2018

George Mason University’s Master of Public Health (MPH) Program will participate in a review for accreditation by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) at the upcoming site visit, which is scheduled for April 16-17, 2018.

CEPH will accept third-party comments about Mason’s MPH Program, and its practices, procedures, and policies from all stakeholders up to 30 days prior to the scheduled site visit. The deadline for submitting comments to CEPH is March 16, 2018. Comments will remain confidential and be accepted by email sent to: Kristen Varol, MPH, CHES, Director of Accreditation Services (kvarol@ceph.org) or by postal mail sent to her attention at:

CEPH is an independent agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit schools of public health and public health programs outside schools of public health.

Professional Certifications

Professional Certifications in Public Health

Graduates of the MPH program may be eligible to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam, depending on their area of concentration and program of study. Students who wish to become CHES eligible should meet with their advisors early in the program to plan the appropriate courses.
