Global and Community Health Student Research

May 1, 2014 - Global and Community Health students have presented their research and received accolades in the following local and national events:

  • Chessy Dintruff presented her OSCAR poster with faculty mentor Cathy Tompkins (Social Work) at Mason's Nursing Doctoral Research Symposium and at the Virginia Public Health Association. Chessy's research is also featured in Mason Spirit
     
  • Leah Bruch and Alex Castillo went to Kentucky where they presented their OSCAR-sponsored research at the national Undergraduate Research Symposium. Leah also presented at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting in Boston in November 2013.
  • Hira Palla developed the poster "Breastfeeding Practices and Mode of Delivery" with OSCAR mentor Yiota Kitsantas (Health Administration and Policy). Hira presented this poster at the College of Science's Undergraduate Research Colloquium. She also won the GMU/Virginia Public Health Association's 5th Annual Career Fair and Poster Session's Poster contest for her poster. Hira earned the OSCAR Student Excellence Award, which recognizes and rewards outstanding undergraduate students who participate in research and creative activities.
