Are you an RN who is considering earning a BSN? Watch School Again, developed by the Virginia Action Coalition.
The RN to BSN Program is for students holding current registered nurse (RN) licenses and may be completed in one year (full-time) providing nursing prerequisites, Mason Core courses, and elective course requirements have been completed prior to admission. Part-time options are also available. The RN to BSN program is offered entirely online.
Contact us for more information about the RN to BSN pathway.
The RN to BSN program allows registered nurses to progress quickly through the BSN program while meeting the objectives of the undergraduate curriculum. Upon completion of all required general education (except ENGH 302) and elective prerequisite courses as well as nursing prerequisite courses, RNs can complete the BSN program in two semesters (30 credit hours).
Students admitted with a prior bachelor's degree are required to complete at least 30 hours at Mason beyond the first degree. If previous credits earned at George Mason have been used for a degree at Mason or any other university, they cannot be used as electives for the RN to BSN degree. Admitted students should meet with their academic advisor to review degree requirements.
Admission into the RN to BSN program is based upon the completion of nursing prerequisite courses, a diploma or associate’s degree in nursing, admission into the university, and a current license as a registered nurse. Admission into the program is twice a year (fall and spring terms), and all the nursing prerequisites must be complete by the end of the term before beginning the program. The RN to BSN program can be completed in one year if the student is full-time. Students who currently hold a current RN license are not eligible for admission into our Traditional Program or our Accelerated Second Degree Program. Applicants with a current RN license are only eligible for admission into our RN to BSN Program.
To be eligible for admission into the RN to BSN Program, students must complete all nursing prerequisite course requirements prior to BSN admission. Mason Core courses and elective courses may be completed while enrolled in the RN to BSN program.
