Biography

Jeremy Burton is an ECOP Community Peer Specialist Coordinator for the College of Public Health, School of Nursing. He is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist with DBHDS and has graduated from the Recovery Leadership Academy in 2021, facilitated by VCU. Burton is also currently an assigned mentor of the RLA program of 2022. His primary role is to assist individuals with a history of opiate use being released from incarceration in order to discover a better quality of life.

Formerly, Jeremy worked four years as a CPRS with the Rappahannock Area Community Service Board. He worked directly in the Medication Assistant Treatment program, assisting individuals with a history of opiate use. Becoming one of the first SUD Peer Recovery specialists, Jeremy assisted the RACSB lay the groundwork for their MAT program, which gave him the honor of training and developing new PRS in that role. As a Lead Peer Recovery Specialist: Peer Navigator with George Mason University, he has been tasked to intercept 2 in response to the global opiate crisis. Jeremy is grateful and excited to work with PW ADC and the MAP clinic to reach the lost and suffering.
