Assistant Professor Michelle S. Williams will create two online training programs: (1) To train community health workers to implement a lung cancer screening awareness program and (2) To educate high-risk populations about prevention for the disease.

February is Cancer Prevention Month, and Dr. Michelle S. Williams, assistant professor in the Department of Global and Community Health, says it is an ideal time for everyone – regardless of age - to assess our own habits to lower our risk of cancer.

Dr. Michelle S. Williams is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Global and Community Health at George Mason University. Dr. Williams’ research is focused on developing culturally appropriate health behavior interventions for cancer prevention and control that will lead to a reduction in cancer disparities. Since 2009, Dr. Williams has been conducting research in Ghana, West Africa that is focused on cervical cancer prevention.
